I RESTORED This Mysterious Antique Object to Its Former Glory!

Full Restoration

I bought this device on an online flea market. The seller couldn’t tell me what kind of device it was and he didn’t know if it still worked.

That tempted me to buy the device, restore it and put it back into operation. After some research on the Internet, I found out that it was an old battery tester that was made around 1920.

This battery tester can be used to test the cell voltage of 2 volts with 80 ampere hours. You can also test the individual cells of a battery under load. According to the description I found, the current was set between the two test probes when testing the cells. The coil is probably a load resistor.

Extreme caution was required when handling this test device. According to research on the Internet, burns were the order of the day. I think the restoration was quite successful, as you can see step by step in this video.

I would be grateful for any comments, suggestions or further information about this object. Leave something in the comments. I would also be happy if you subscribe to my channel.

Take care,
Sascha.
